Eight of the 15 people detained in the bribery and corruption investigation against Antalya Metropolitan Municipality were arrested. According to the allegations, some people who received tenders from the municipality bribed the then mayor Muhittin Böcek and his son Mustafa Gökhan Böcek with 195 million liras in order to receive progress payments. The money was allegedly laundered through foreign exchange bureaus and jewelry stores, some of it was converted into gold and used to buy luxury vehicles. The Prosecutor General’s Office also requested the appointment of a trustee for a foreign exchange office and two jewelry stores.
