Zeytinli Rock Festival, one of the biggest music events in Turkey, has been canceled again this year. Sarıyer District Governorate did not give permission for the festival, which was planned to be held in Kilyos, citing the risk of forest fires.
The festival was previously scheduled to take place in Muğla Marmaris, but the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change canceled the event, stating that the area was a “Special Environmental Protection Zone”.
A total of 40 artists including Duman, Athena, Pentagram, Manga, Selda Bağcan, Gazapizm, Emre Aydın, Cem Adrian and Hande Yener were scheduled to perform at the festival, which was scheduled to take place on August 21-24. The organizers did not announce a new date or venue.
Zeytinli Rock Festival, the last surviving event among the major rock festivals organized in Turkey since the early 2000s, has been on the agenda with consecutive bans in recent years.
