Thirty-nine people, including Adalar Mayor Ali Ercan Akpolat, two deputy mayors and municipal employees, who were detained as part of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Anadolu Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, were referred to court. The suspects faced charges of bribery, extortion, forgery of official documents, establishing and leading a criminal organisation, abuse of office and violation of legislation on the protection of cultural and natural assets.
