Fifteen of the 21 people for whom detention orders were issued in the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office investigation into Kuşadası Municipality for “bribery” and “extortion” were detained. The simultaneous operations in İzmir, Aydın and Antalya were reportedly based on witness statements, effective-remorse testimony, HTS records and MASAK reports. Those ordered detained included Ezgi Tezcan Yaşar, the daughter of YENİ Party Aydın MP Bülent Tezcan, and her husband Umut Yaşar. Mayor Ömer Günel had previously been arrested as part of the same investigation.
