Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Court of Cassation claimed for the imprisonment sentences against Akın Atalay, Orhan Erinç, Murat Sabuncu, Hikmet Çetinkaya and Aydın Engin to be reversed in the Cumhuriyet Case and for them to be acquitted. The Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office indicated that a verdict of reversal must be issued against the finalised imprisonment sentences against Kadri Gürsel, Bülent Utku, Musa Kart, Hakan Karasinir, Mustafa Kemal Güngör, Önder Çelik, Güray Öz as well. Utku, Kart, Karasinir, Güngör, Çelik and Öz are still in prison. The Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office indicated that the 7-year six-month imprisonment sentence issued against People’s Democratic Party (HDP) Istanbul MP Ahmet Şık must be reversed and that Şık must be prosecuted due to making illegal organisation propaganda and denigration of government institutions and bodies. The Prosecutor’s Office further claimed the approval of the imprisonment sentence against Yunus Emre İper for 3 years, 1 month and 15 days and against Ahmet Kemal Aydoğdu for 10 years in the same case.
