After a trustee was appointed to Halk TV and its television broadcasts were halted, access was also blocked to six of the channel’s social media accounts. The Freedom of Expression Association said the decision was issued under Article 8/A of Law No. 5651. The access block covered Halk TV’s YouTube channel with 2.59 million subscribers, X account with 3 million followers, Facebook page with 1.5 million followers, Instagram account with 1.2 million followers, TikTok account with 256,000 followers and Telegram channel with 5,247 subscribers. Despite the access-blocking order, the social media platforms had not yet made the accounts unavailable in Türkiye.
