Constitutional Court (AYM) issued the final decree on the individual application made against the arrest of People’s Democratic Party (HDP) Siirt MP Meral Danış Beştaş. The court decided that Beştaş being kept under arrest for four months has “violated her right to personal freedom and safety.”
Beştaş has been taken into custody on 28 January 2017 due to participating in the march organized to protest curfews and operations in Sur, as well as the meeting organized by HDP Central Executive Board (MYK) in 2014 for Kobani, which was under attack by ISIS. Beştaş has been released on the same day with judicial supervision, whereas was arrested once again on 30 January 2017 upon Prosecutor objection.
