Journalist Alican Uludağ was charged with “publicly disseminating misleading information” over social media posts about the collapse of the Arslan Apartment building in Gebze on 29 October 2025, in which four people died. Uludağ wrote that metro construction passing beneath the building had contributed to the collapse and that the Ministry of Transport bore responsibility. The prosecution sought a prison sentence of between one year and three months and five years and three months, arguing that the posts were capable of disturbing public peace. Uludağ denied the accusation and said his information was based on official sources and an expert report. The first hearing was scheduled for 5 November.
