The detention period of 106 people who gathered outside Istanbul Çağlayan Courthouse on 15 September to protest the “Ailem Güvende” operations was extended by 24 hours. Those detained included BirGün reporter Sarya Toprak, ARD reporter Şener Azak and lawyers. Police took the detainees to the Istanbul Provincial Police Department and police units in Gayrettepe and Küçükçekmece. Although statement procedures were completed on the morning of 16 September, the detention periods were extended. Police also questioned Sarya Toprak, who was detained while covering the event, about her social media posts concerning both the protest and the “Ailem Güvende” operations.
