Actor and director Müfit Can Saçıntı gave a statement as part of a criminal complaint filed over a joke he made at the Nasreddin Hodja Festival in Akşehir: “I was appointed trustee to Nasreddin Hodja’s donkey.” Saçıntı said his remarks fell within humor and social satire and did not target any individual. The complaint was filed after a speech referring to trustee appointments that Saçıntı made while appearing at the festival as the symbolic Nasreddin Hodja. Saçıntı said he left the legal assessment to the prosecutor and the court.
