The trial of journalists Timur Soykan and Barış Pehlivan on a charge of “publicly disseminating misleading information” over remarks they made on Halk TV’s “Kayda Geçsin” program was heard at Bakırköy 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance. Soykan rejected the charge and argued that his remarks fell within journalistic activity and freedom of expression. The court decided to request the outcome of another investigation into remarks made on the same program and adjourned the hearing until 22 December.
