The Antep Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an ex officio investigation into YENİ Party Antep Provincial Chair Erhan Deniz Güngen on a charge of “publicly disseminating misleading information.” Following a knife attack against YENİ Party Antep MP Melih Meriç, Güngen had said that the attack was carried out by those who wanted to obstruct his party’s path. The prosecutor’s office assessed the statement as misleading to the public. Seydi Ahmet Keleş and his son H.K., who had been detained in connection with the attack, had been arrested.
