Nine people were arrested in an investigation into Uşak Municipality for “qualified fraud to the detriment of public institutions and organizations.” Prosecutors alleged that some people registered as insured employees of municipal companies had actually been made to work at private businesses owned by Mayor Özkan Yalım. Detention orders were issued for 22 people as part of the investigation. The gendarmerie detained 16 people, while A.A. surrendered to prosecutors. HTS and base-station records were cited as showing that the suspects were at businesses owned by Yalım rather than at the municipality during working hours. Of the 12 people referred to the courthouse, nine were arrested and three were placed under judicial control. Five people were released after their procedures were completed.
