The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an ex officio investigation against journalist Ertuğrul Özkök on a charge of “insulting the President” over remarks he made on a program. During the program, Özkök described Türkiye’s current regime as one built around the personality of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and commented on the past end of the Franco regime in Spain.
