The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office referred detained television commentator Cem Küçük to a criminal judgeship of peace with a request for his arrest on the charge of “publicly disseminating misleading information.” The investigation examined complaints alleging that Küçük made social media posts in exchange for financial benefits from several businesspeople, as well as some statements he used in the media during the investigation into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. Küçük denied the allegations and said the money transfers were loans or professional fees.
