The Interior Ministry temporarily suspended Çankaya Mayor Hüseyin Can Güner from office after he was arrested on charges of “forming a criminal organization,” “bribery” and “rigging a tender.” A court arrested 24 people, including Güner, and released six others as part of the investigation. Güner argued that the tender processes were not under his responsibility and that the municipality suffered no public loss.
