Police detained two Russian tourists who allegedly read the Bible aloud in the visitor section of Hagia Sophia. I.F. and V.F., who faced proceedings on a charge of “inciting the public to hatred and hostility,” were referred to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management. Russian diplomatic authorities said they were following the incident.
