İrfan Yılmaz, who was 96 percent disabled and lived with cerebral palsy, remained in Marmara No. 2 L-Type Closed Prison despite a Forensic Medicine Institute report stating that he could not remain in prison. Yılmaz said he could not meet his daily needs on his own, that his cellmates cared for him and that he could not access medical necessities such as an air mattress. He said the prison administration blocked his release on the basis of a police station letter citing “public safety.”
