Fırat Bozfırat, the owner of KRT TV, filed a criminal complaint against 17 journalists who quit their jobs in 2025 because they had not been paid. Bozfırat targeted the journalists with charges including threats, defamation, and inciting the public to hatred and hostility. The journalists, however, claimed that the owner was attempting to criminalize their struggle for their rights. KRT employees had launched a walkout on June 4, 2025, after going two months without receiving their salaries or meal allowances.
