Ahead of the 24th Feminist Night March organized in Istanbul for International Women’s Day on March 8, Taksim and the surrounding area were cordoned off with police barriers. By order of the Governor’s Office, the Taksim station on the M2 Yenikapı-Hacıosman line and the Istiklal Avenue exits in Şişhane were closed, while the Beyoğlu District Governor’s Office declared a one-day ban on protests in the area. Despite the bans, women gathered on Sıraselviler Avenue, marched chanting slogans, and concluded the protest on Cihangir Avenue. Six people were detained during the march.
