The Istanbul 10th Criminal Court of Peace, in its monthly review of detention, ruled to release Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan, Deputy Mayor Ebru Özdemir, and Reform Foundation Director Mehmet Ali Çalışkan, who were detained as part of the “City Settlement” investigation. The court ordered their release, imposing judicial control measures in the form of a ban on leaving the country. The prosecution requested that the detention continue, stating that the nature and characteristics of the crime and the evidence had not been fully gathered. The court decided that detention was not proportionate at this stage, considering the current evidence and the length of detention. Resul Emrah Şahan will not be released from prison as he is detained as part of a separate investigation into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
