Journalist Sedef Kabaş was detained on charges of “insulting the president” and “inciting crime” and was later released on judicial supervision. In the investigation conducted by the Anatolia Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, Kabaş was referred to court after giving her statement to the prosecutor’s office. The court imposed a ban on leaving the country and an obligation to sign in. In her defense, Kabaş stated that her posts fell within the scope of freedom of thought and expression.
