In Diyarbakır, 19 people were detained in operations targeting those protesting attacks by groups affiliated with the Syrian transitional government on northern and eastern Syria. Following house raids on January 23, 10 people whose police statements were completed were released, while 9 were referred to the prosecutor’s office. The prosecutor requested the arrest of 6 people. The Criminal Court of Peace ruled to arrest Amed Eflatun, Azat Akkalu, and Mehmet Salih Karacadağ, and to release 6 others under judicial supervision. Of the 19 people detained in the Kızıltepe district of Mardin, 9 were released from police custody, while Beşir Özdemir was arrested from among the 10 people referred to the prosecutor’s office.
