Journalist Elif Akgül, who is on trial in the case against the HDK, appeared before the Istanbul 25th Heavy Penal Court for the second time. The prosecutor requested that Akgül be punished on the grounds of “membership in an organization.” While numerous journalists and press organizations observed the hearing, the court granted time to the defense, decided to continue the travel ban, and postponed the hearing until January 20, 2026.
