Lawyers representing Istanbul University’s Rectorate applied to the Istanbul Press Prosecutor’s Office to block access to a link to a news story about Ekrem İmamoğlu’s diploma. However, when the address “medyaradar.net” was added to the list alongside the link in the petition, the site was completely blocked on November 14. Medyaradar’s objections were initially rejected by the 6th and 7th Criminal Courts of Peace. The site then reapplied to the prosecutor’s office. Upon the prosecutor’s office realizing the error and requesting a correction, the 6th Criminal Court of Peace lifted the access ban, and the site reopened six days later. Medyaradar stated that the press freedom had been violated due to the mistake made and called on lawyers, prosecutors, and judges to be more careful.
