50 of 53 people detained during the 23rd Istanbul Pride March were released on judicial control conditions, while 3 people were arrested for “opposing the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations”.
Those detained around Beşiktaş were referred to Istanbul Courthouse after the procedures at the police station. While the Criminal Judgeship of Peace released 50 people with a ban on leaving the country, it was reported that one of the 3 people arrested was detained before arriving to the march area and the other was detained while sitting in a cafe.
This led to criticism of arbitrary arrest and violation of the right to demonstrate.
