Journalist Furkan Karabay was arrested on charges of “insulting the president” and “targeting people who took part in the fight against terrorism”. Karabay, who was detained due to his YouTube video and social media posts, was referred to the court with a request for arrest after his statement to the prosecutor’s office.
Sent to Silivri Marmara Prison, Karabay refused to make a defense at the hearing and said, “I repeat my previous defenses exactly. This is my third visit to the courthouse and my second arrest. My aim here is to stand against those who are called members of the judiciary but are ganged up.”
