Middle East Technical University (METU) student Tunahan Gözlügöl was sentenced to 8 months and 22 days in prison for a social media post, in which he criticized the trustee rector of the Middle East Technical University (METU),Verşan Kök. The sentence against Gözlügöl was deferred for a year. The student had previously faced an investigation by the school administration as well as a one-week suspension from school.
