The investigation against Adnan Bilen, Cemil Uğur, Şehriban Abi and Nazan Sala – who announced the incident of two citizens being thrown off from a helicopter in Van to the public and were arrested on October 9 – as well as against journalist Zeynep Durgut, was concluded. In the indictment accepted by Van 5th Assize Court, the journalists were charged with “terrorist organisation membership.” The indictment further presented the journalists’ news and meetings with news resources as criminal elements; claiming that the agencies and newspapers they worked for were making “anti-government publications with provocative content.” The indictment further indicated the access bans issued against the related news agencies and newspaper websites. The Prosecutor’s Office presented the journalists “not reporting on sports and gossip” as another basis for the charges imposed.
