JOURNALISM IS NOT A CRIME, BUT A PUBLIC SERVICE.
Freedom for all journalists…
As journalists are prosecuted and imprisoned, not only their freedom to “inform us” is violated but out freedom of information is being destroyed as well.
Unfortunately, Turkey is one of the prominent countries in this violation. According to the data of the Journalists Union, 70 journalists are in prison in December 2020 and will probably welcome the new year behind bars. This shame not only is a shame for the main responsible of this, the government, but also the Turkish society.
The Grand National Assembly of Turkey must clean the anti-democratic law allowing such rights violations, prevent new ones from being enacted and must protect one of its main functions, which is to “monitor the administration.”
