Two of the most prominent international organisations for cartoons, Cartooning for Peace Association (CFP) and Cartoonists Rights Network International (CRNI) launched a message for imprisoned cartoonist Musa Kart. Demanding for Kart and arrested Cumhuriyet workers to be released immediately, the two organisations stated, “Our firm support continue for Musa Kart, his family and his colleagues in prison. We repeat out call for Kart and his five courageous friends to be released immediately.” The statement further pointed out these statements of Kart: “Charging a cartoonist of aiding and abetting terrorist organisations and sentencing him to heavy imprisonment sentences is not only malice against the cartoonist but against this country as well. For cartoon means critical thought.”
