Gizem Göçtü, a municipal council member, and her husband Şamil Göçtü, who were taken into custody as part of an investigation conducted by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office into the Güzelbahçe Municipality, were arrested on June 3. The number of detainees in the investigation, which involves allegations of bribery, abuse of office, and violations of urban planning laws, has risen to four.
