Two more scientists, who were on trial due to signing the “We Will Not Partake In This Crime” petition by the Academics for Peace, were convicted due to “making illegal organization propaganda.” Istanbul 37th Assize Court sentenced Assoc. Prof. Besime Şen from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University and Prof. Dr. S.S. from Boğaziçi University to 1 year and three months of imprisonment each. The announcement of the verdicts were deferred.
According to the data we compiled, 137 of the 486 signatory academics standing trial were convicted. The convicted academics were sentenced to a total of 205 years and six months of imprisonment; the sentences against 28 academics (53 years and eight months of imprisonment in total) were not deferred.
