The appeal for the release of Mehmet Türkmen, President of BİRTEK-SEN, filed on April 29 in Gaziantep, was rejected. The court ruled that his detention should continue. Türkmen is on trial on charges of “spreading misleading information to the public” for a statement he made regarding his participation in a workers’ protest.
