Doğukan Akan, an organizing specialist with the Independent Mining Workers’ Union (Bağımsız Maden-İş), was arrested on April 11, 2026, and subsequently detained for his support of Başaran Aksu. The prosecutor’s office referred Akan to court on charges of “disseminating misleading information to the public” under Article 217 of the Turkish Penal Code, and the court issued a detention order.
