The trial, which was opened following a complaint by Ali Tosun, who was subjected to police violence during the 968th weekly protest held by the Saturday Mothers in Beyoğlu, Istanbul, on October 14, 2023, did not take place on January 15 as planned. The judge of the Istanbul 37th Criminal Court of First Instance stated that the case was subject to summary proceedings and declared that the hearing had been held in error. In the case against police officer H.B. on charges of “simple assault by exceeding the limits of force,” it was announced that the decision would be made based on the file after the parties’ written statements were taken. Lawyers announced that they would request that the action be considered torture and that the file be sent to the high criminal court.
