The Ministry of Trade announced that 30 social media accounts with high followers advertising illegal betting and gambling were blocked.
The Ministry stated that these accounts encouraged consumers to participate in live betting and gambling. While the owners of the accounts were not disclosed, applications were made to the relevant institutions for judicial review processes.
Although the accounts that were blocked were not disclosed, it was reported that social media phenomenon and singer Murat Övüç’s Instagram account could not be accessed since the morning hours. Övüç’s account may also be among those blocked.
