Urban planner Tayfun Kahraman, who received an 18-year prison sentence in the Gezi Park case and has been detained since April 25, 2022, was transferred to the hospital after suffering an acute MS attack. His wife, Meriç Kahraman, announced on February 11 that Kahraman had been sent to Cerrahpaşa Hospital for treatment. On July 31, 2025, the Constitutional Court ruled that Kahraman’s right to a fair trial had been violated and that he should be retried. On November 6, 2025, the Istanbul 13th Heavy Penal Court rejected the requests for retrial and release. Kahraman has been battling MS since 2005.
