K.C. was arrested in Nevşehir due to “insulting the President” on the social media. The citizen had been taken into custody after the examination started by Nevşehir Security Directorate units “following a complaint.”
According to the latest announcement made by the Ministry of the Interior, investigations were started against 281 people between the dates June 25 – July 2 due to their social media posts. These investigations were opened after the examinations made on 408 social media accounts, with charges ‘illegal organization propaganda,’ ‘insulting government authorities,’ ‘inciting people towards resentment, hatred and hostility’ and ‘intending against the indivisible integrity of state’ imposed.
