Journalists Ruşen Çakır, Soner Yalçın, Şaban Sevinç, Aslı Aydıntaşbaş, Yavuz Oğhan, and Batuhan Çolak, who were summoned for questioning as part of a “corruption” investigation targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, were released on condition that they not leave the country. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office accused the journalists of “publicly disseminating false information” and “knowingly aiding a criminal organization.” The prosecutor’s statement indicated that judicial control had been imposed on all suspects.
