37 national and international non-governmental organizations, including our initiative, came together at the call of the Women’s Coalition in Journalism (CFWIJ) and journalists issued a joint statement demanding the immediate release of journalist Sedef Kabaş, who was arrested on charges of “insulting Erdoğan”. Emphasizing that journalists are systematically targeted and intimidated in Turkey, the signatories said, “We remind the Turkish state that freedom of expression is a Constitutional right, and we demand the immediate release of Sedef Kabaş.”
