Security General Directorate (EGM) made a criminal complaint against Van Bar Association after the association’s denouncement and complaint at the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on the torture faced by three children, who were proven to have tortured under custody with a medical report on February 15. EGm claimed that the torture allegations do not reflect the truth and accused the Bar Association with “intentionally disrupting incidents” and “supporting a terrorist organization.”
Van Bar Association made a press statement in front of the courthouse and reacted against the targeting and criminalising attitude of EGM, indicating that the statement is an attempt to put an armour of impunity around torture perpetrators through covering up the truth. “We will never step back from the truth and fighting against the protection of basic rights and freedoms; we will continue fighting for the protection and defense of human rights,” stated the Association.
