Scholars at Risk 2018 Courage to Think Award was granted to the Academics for Peace due to their extraordinary efforts in establishing solidarity at universities and encouraging freedom to question as well as principles of peaceful opinion exchange.
The award was handed with a ceremony during the Academics Under Risk Network 2018 Global Congress organized on April 25 in Berlin. Muzaffer Kaya from Berlin Technical University and Tebessüm Yılmaz from Humboldt University took the award on behalf of the Academics for Peace group. The award is given to individuals or groups under threat, who try to apply and spread values like academic freedom. The award was lastly given to more than 600 students and academics, who were unfairly imprisoned in Egypt.
