1st Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation approved the judicial fine of 15,200 TL issued against police officer Ahmet Şahbaz, who shot Ethem Sarısülük in the head and killed him during the Gezi Park protests. “The Court of Cassation approved a judicial fine against homicide. The penalty against the killing of a human being, using his right to protest, by the security force, is only 15 thousand TLs. This is completely a policy of impunity. A file of homicide that occurred in front of the public audience can not be closed with 15 thousand TL penalty,” Sarısülük Family lawyer Murat Yılmaz stated.
