The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) imposed a total of 46 sanctions on national channels in the first half of 2025; 42 of these fines were imposed on opposition channels such as Halk TV, NOW TV, SZC TV and Tele 1. RTÜK Member Tuncay Keser described this picture as “proof that the scales of justice are out of balance”. Keser stated that double standards were applied and that no action was taken against similar violations by pro-government channels. He also warned that with RTÜK’s recent decisions, some channels may face sanctions that could lead to license revocation.
