Experts from the high council of the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) identified a violation of principles of impartiality and accuracy determined by the Supreme Electoral Council (YSK) in the broadcasts of TRT News Channel, which is bound to make public broadcast. The report was confirmed and approved with an authorized signature from RTÜK Monitoring and Evaluation Unit Deputy Chairman Yaşar Uğurlu.
The report reawakened debates on TRT Director being dismissed or not, since the Article 13 of the Law on Turkish Radio and Television No. 2954 states, “TRT Director is dismissed in case impartiality is violated.” In this case, RTÜK must apply to the related Ministry, offering the director’s dismissal and the TRT director must be dismissed with a Council of Ministers verdict.
