A penalty of reprimand was issued against lawyers, who supported Cumhuriyet Daily after it was targeted due to publishing a selection of Charlie Hebdo cartoons following the ISIS attack against the newspaper. Second Chamber of the Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK) claimed the 11 YARSAV member judges and prosecutors have partaken in the crime of “attempting to influence fair trial,” “misuse of duty” and “public incitement towards resentment and hostility” and asserted that they have awakened the perception that they were not unbiased, therefore damaged legal procedure.
