Eskişehir Bar Association Women’s Rights Commission Chair Funda Güney Kökçınar stated that the murders of women have turned into a systematic massacre. She evaluated the rejection of women’s rights commissions’ requests to participate in violence cases on the grounds that they were “not directly harmed by the crime” as an indicator of the masculine understanding of the judiciary.

Kökçınar emphasized that 136 women were murdered in the first 6 months of 2025 and 145 women died suspiciously. Stating that the latest murders took place against Ayşe Tokyaz, Deniz Oktay and Shabana Solaiman Khil, Kökçınar stated that the perpetrators are emboldened by impunity.

Emphasizing that the Istanbul Convention should be re-enacted and Law No. 6284 should be fully implemented in the fight against violence against women, Kökçınar said that they will continue to fight for women’s rights.
