Istanbul 3rd Criminal Judgeship of Peace imposed a publication ban concerning the knife attack at Kayaşehir Şeyh Şamil Imam Hatip Secondary School in Başakşehir, in which five students were injured. The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) announced the decision dated 6 October 2026 and numbered 2026/9304. The judgeship cited the need to avoid affecting efforts to clarify the incident, apprehend suspects and protect public order. Under the decision, all news reports, interviews and commentary about the incident were banned in print, audio and visual media, internet media and social media until the investigation was completed. The judgeship imposed the publication ban under Press Law No. 5187.
