The Human Rights Association (İHD) and relatives of prisoners continued their weekly protests in İzmir, Ankara, and Istanbul for detainees whose health conditions have deteriorated in prisons. In a statement made in front of the former Sümerbank building in Konak, İzmir, attention was drawn to the health condition of prisoner Enver Yanık. Vetha Aydın, head of the IHD Izmir Branch, stated that Yanık frequently faints, uses a wheelchair, and is at risk of death. Yanık’s wife, Şükriye Yanık, stated that her husband cannot live on his own and demanded his release.

In Ankara, the 595th weekly action of the Initiative for Freedom for Sick Prisoners brought attention to the situation of 72-year-old Salih Göktai. Tanju Gündüzalp, head of the Ankara branch of the Human Rights Association (İHD), said that Göktai has difficulty walking due to hypertension, diabetes, and severe intestinal problems, has lost a significant amount of weight, and is at risk of dying. Gündüzalp called for the execution to be postponed.

In Istanbul, the 723rd “F Sit-in” protest organized by the IHD drew attention to the health condition of İsmail Tanboğa, who is being held in Diyarbakır T-Type Prison. Yavuz Okçuoğlu of the İHD stated that Tanboğa had been fed with formula for a long time due to suspected stomach cancer, severe anemia, kidney problems, and pneumonia, and that his body weight had fallen below 40 kilograms. Tanboğa’s family requested his release, stating that he had no access to treatment.
